Ashley Valentine, a Walter Panas graduate that played her college field hockey at SUNY Oneonta, coached P.V.’s JV team last season before getting her first win as head coach yesterday. She replaces Leslie King, who left the program after accepting a teaching position in Tuckahoe.
Danielle Labella, a teacher in the Irvington school district, formerly coached at Holy Child and Irvington before taking over as Ossining’s varsity coach this year. She replaces Lori Mettler.

It came to my attention yesterday that Putnam Valley will not be sponsoring a JV field hockey team this year. Head coach Ashley Valentine told me that 32 girls signed up for the sport but the interest of many participant’s wavered after intense presason workouts. 21 players remained, all of which were kept on the team’s Varsity roster.
Next week’s game coverage: I should know for certain later this evening which game(s) I will be covering next week.
To report scores (FOR COACHES): For anyone that has not seen the notice on the cover of our print edition, The Journal News is moving from our Harrison location to another complex in White Plains. For coaches wishing to report scores on Friday, we will be without phone service for that one night since Saturday will be our first day in our new building. The most efficient way to report scores is via email: vcsports@lohud.com
