If it were Hollywood, producers would be charged with curious casting.
Lakeland as underdog? Really?
But that’s what the Hornets were Saturday as they took on Darien, CT, the only team to have beaten them last season.
In fact, Darien had beaten them in both their previous games.
But this time Lakeland changed the script with super soph Dana Bozek taking over the leading role.
Bozek tallied a hat trick, scoring on a breakaway, a backhand shot and a penalty stroke.
Sarah Bard also scored.
Darien got goals from Georgia Cassidy and Hollis Perticone.
Danika Hornick had eight saves for the Blue Wave and Alex Halpin had three for the Hornets.
Molly Fitzpatrick also had an assist for the Hornets.
Lakeland’s next game is Tuesday at crosstown-rival Yorktown, where, despie the potential for a Lakeland letdown, the Huskers will be the underdog.
