The area’s Golden Dozen award recipients, marking combined field hockey and classroom achievement, have been announced, with Section 1 Class A runner-up Scarsdale leading the way with four athletes named.
Raiders’ honorees include Clara Belk, Caroline Knapp, Julia Ross and Lindsey Repp.
Mamaroneck, which won the section’s Class A crown, has three players on the list — Emily Gerzberg, Katherine Goodman and Sydney Segal.
Rye’s Alex Bennett, Suffern’s Nicole Caridi, Clarkstown South’s Sarah Donnelly, Pelham’s Julia Kavanagh and Clarkstown North’s Kristina Lucente round out the Golden Dozen.
A committee of six Section 1 coaches chose the 12 from among roughly 40 applicants.
As specified by the rules, all are seniors.
Candidates were evaluated based on 50 percent academic/grades/test score; 25 percent field hockey achievement; 10 percent community service; 10 percent extracurricular/honors received and five percent essay.
